Michele Bachmann On 2016 Presidential Run: 'I'm Not Taking Anything Off Of The Table'

A little more than one week after announcing she was retiring from Congress, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has not ruled out another run at the White House.

In her first television appearance since last week's announcement, Bachmann sat down with Fox News' Sean Hannity. He saved the 2016 question for last, asking her another presidential bid was in the cards.

"I'm not taking anything off of the table," Bachmann said. "But that's certainly not my number one item that I'm looking at right now, either. I'm in the game for the long haul."

Bachmann's 2012 presidential ambitions looked nothing but bright in August 2011, when she raced her way to a victory in Iowa's Ames Straw Poll. Five months later, her hopes came crashing down in the same state, with a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Iowa caucus. She dropped out of the race the following day.

After Bachmann made her retirement announcement, a HuffPost/YouGov poll found results that suggest she could have trouble nationally in the future. The survey polled 1,000 adults from May 29-30, finding that 40 percent of Americans had an unfavorable opinion of Bachmann.
