Sales by joint ventures with automakers including General Motors and Volkswagen helped SAIC Group boost sales 12.6% year on year to 367,600 vehicles in April. March growth was 10.4%.
Unit volume in the first four months of 2012 wose 9.2% to 1.5m, China Daily reported.
Joint ventures reporting sales increases for the month included Shanghai GM, Shanghai Volkswagen, SAIC GM Wuling and Shanghai Sunwin Bus, a three-way tie between SAIC Motor, Volvo China Investment and Volvo Bus.
However, the group's own-brand passenger vehicle company reported sales down in April.
